WESTMINSTER COMMUNITY REMINISCENCE
& ARCHIVE GROUP

My relationship with WCRAG started in 2004 when the Foundation for Womens Art commissioned me to work with the women in the group on an exhibition entitled Women & Reminiscence 1939-45. The women had a wealth of experiences ranging from working in the Land Army, living in London during the Blitz, to being evacuated. Inspired by one woman's story of constantly knitting blanket squares and socks for soldiers, I created a postcard patchwork of their experiences. Each participant had at least one postcard telling her own story through words and personal photos combined with archive material. The individual postcards also became part of a teaching pack and workshops in local schools and libraries.

I continue to work with the group which meets regularly at the Churchill War Rooms, and have been involved in several intergenerational and exhibition projects with them. See also Design.
