GEFFREY MUSEUM

ASIAN WOMEN'S GROUP

The Asian Women's Group have been meeting at the museum for almost three years. I was engaged, by Magic Me who were collaborating with the Geffrye Museum, on a series of workshops to prepare the women to be interviewed and photographed at home for the museum archive. The museum curators were keen to establish a record of the women's lives and homes as this community were under-represented in the museum's archive.

The workshops ran over the winter 2010-11. The women were involved in a variety of activities including: learning digital photography skills and interview techniques, making floor plans of their homes, talking about special objects and belongings, sharing stories about their journeys to England, and creating books of photos and words about their lives in England.

I have also been involved in photographing the women's homes for the archive.
